| Buteyko Breathing Method | ||||
The word 'spirit' comes from a latin word meaning 'breath' |
Russian professor and medical doctor Konstantin Buteyko developed this practice of breathwork after observing hospital patients' breath as they were dying, and noticing that approaching death made the breath speed up. Thirty years of research proved that the opposite was true: slowing down the breath would lengthen the life span. The Buteyko Method of breath retraining is most commonly used to treat asthma but also is used for sleep apnea, snoring, panic attacks, anxiety attacks, insomnia and infertility. Use of this method normally results in a reduction in asthma medication without the need for further drugs of any kind. |
